This hybrid lens design incorporates a video-friendly Voice Coil Motor (VCM) rear focus system with a Nano USM (Ultrasonic Motor) for precise autofocus and near-silent lens operation. Its dedicated manual iris ring and AF/MF switch offer users heightened focus control and allow for swift settings and adjustments. Belonging to the L-series, this prime lens promises excellent durability and features a weather-resistant design that protects against dust and moisture.

Optical Design

Two ultra-low dispersion elements and one aspherical element help produce excellent image quality while minimizing chromatic aberrations.

To prevent ghosting and flare considerably, Canon has applied ASC (Air Sphere Coating), SSC (Super Spectra Coating), SWC (Sub Wavelength Coating), and Fluorine coatings to this lens.
